Thanks for that Andy but there's a million junkies who we'll never know the names of and I'll be fucked if I'm going to waste my time reading about this one. Stick to making music and looking cool Nikki. Some might say it's good therapy to bare your soul but if he was smacked out of his tits, keeping a diary would be the last thing he thought of doing. I read "The Dirt" and thought it was cool but when I had time to digest it I realised that most of it was probably lies and bullshit ................................there's a lot of that in Rock N Roll you know. Right I'm off to read "Betty Partridges struggle with Anadins" a touching novel about painkiller addiction.

I read Tommy Lee's book Tommyland earlier this year, I enjoyed the read (I am not one for reading books), I just think that after 25 years its a wonder they are all still alive and we all idolised them way back regardless of what we think of them now. I would love to sit on my back deck and have beer with Tommy and Nikki and listen to what they have to say..

I hope the book serves as a detterent rather than a glorification of drugs, hey I'm not exactly an angel but as far as Heroin is concerned that's a major no no, it's just the way that it's somehow "cool" for rock stars to do this shit but when your house is burgled by a desperate smackhead it's another story.

Great band and yup they had a massive impact on me, perhaps I'm just getting a bit cynical in my old age?

Cheeky monkey ?!? .. I must agree with both Lenni & J.B .. getting old we must be .. You right on J.B when you said about all the bullshit in RNR .. WE guys are able to testify to that, been there done that an like they say bought the *kin t-shirt .. but heroin is also a big no-no in my book too .. ive had a few guys in bands over the years who regularly used my recording studio facility die of taking that shit, and as you know ive recently worked with a heavyweight ex-smakk head & he was a right 'kin tool' ,it is in my book the worst drug out there .. smack heads are breed to themselves, loners who cant take living and want to die now and again to get away from the internal conflict of life itself, nothing comes in-between a smack head and his fix .. again J.B's on the button, as a smack head will rob you blind for a £10 fix and wont think anything of it .. the heroin diarys albeit another one of those kinda 'Hollywood Rockstar does well and is so brave and strong to come thru the dark tunnel and into life,' affair, is im, sure just full of self hero image bolstering wank, that is just another money spinner for Sixx, who it seems is turning into the new Gene Simmonds .. (another money grabbin' toss whom i used to look up to as a kid ) .. im sure this "Diary" will only encourage kids to try heroin than put them off, you know, trying to live thru the life that Sixx has gone thru .. Couple of good tracks on the album Andy gave us .. the rest are a watered down Floyd or indeed WHo's Tommy / Kiss elder type Rock "Concept" type jobby .. only this one is a sob story coming from a F**kin' spoilt brat smak-head .. Stevo said he's bag a copy of this album then buy an official one .. i say "Fuck you Sixx .. you never bought any of my albums you fookin' smakk head .. get a f**kin' life !!!"

Strong words indeed. It seems like a backlash against our motley hero's. I haven't listened to the Supernova album since I went to the Sydney gig and came away feeling cheated at a 75 minute show with some shite covers thrown into fill it out. Tommy Lee was excellent but it wasn't enough to justify the $110 admission fee (which was about 20 bucks more than other bands charge).I found it hard to admit but Juke Kartel (Toby Rand's band) fuckin smashed them with a no bullshit rockin set ( the innocence of youth eh)? I reckon the like of Sixx and Lee have done well to remain in the public eye for twenty odd years but really have to realise that the punters aren't as stupid as they think they are ...

I've defended Crue countless times on other boards and probably upset a few people in the bargain but this is a different issue altogether, I once accused Buttz of taking a cheap shot over the death of Razzle (a very sad loss) after I had jumped to their defence (not on the Razzle incident may I add, that can't be defended) but I'm starting to see things differently and understand why some peoples feelings run very deep about the band, you know if you look back they were almost untouchable (in a legal sense), I mean what would have happened to any other idiot the night that Razzle died, he would have been banged up and not seen the light of day for a long time, so why the fuck did Neil only get what amounts to a slap on the wrist? and although I loved their image and their music I could see the monster they were being allowed to become. Marshy hits upon a good point with the Gene Simmons thing, it hadn't crossed my mind until reading his piece but he's right. People like Sixx and Neil can't lose any respect by doing these kind of things because they never had any in the first place.

Keeping things in perspective i still love the music of bands like Crue / Kiss, its just that i know that they are all
'attention seeking egotistical Mutts' that have sold there soul for Money & Fame. They'd never admit to it saying its all about the Creativity of being a muso, but when you get over 40 and have kids/mortgage/loans etc, bumming Mc Dodgy for your meals day in, day out just wont cut the mustard .. Its really sad to see Nikki go the same way as that greedy f**ker Gene Simmons, his Kiss merch empire is outragouse, HOWEVER if you have seen Gene on Sky TV fly on the wall docco, with his ex-nob jocky wife, you would see a real sad old man with nothing better to do with his time than parade his sorry fat arse around, pushing his naff plastic products, money money money .. what a tool!

Soooo,i guess its respect to the way they were .. and the way we were at that same time in the 80's .. from my point of view it was one of the best times of my life, i can assure you of that .. but for f**ks sake, they should move on and quit while there ahead & most importantly, whilst we still have an ounce of respect left for them ;0 )

After catchin up on this topic, my only question is, if he was that deep into it do you really think he took the time to collect his thoughts and write them down in semi-perfect english while it was happening?
I've had nights where I was drunk enough, not to remember what happened by the time I got home, let alone write during it, yet he could pen what turns out to be a novel while that under the influence.
I gotta say though pretty much in agreement with what has been said here in previous posts, but I'll probably end buying/borrowing/stealing the book to read. It does all seem to be grab the money while ya can at the moment with the Crue though. They had one book and saw the market for it and have now followed it through with 2 more!! Who's next Vince or Mick? Bit more time spent doing a complete album would be nice!

Well put. I loved the Crue cos they were the band that just went fuckin whack !! back when I was searching for something different. Four guys with different persona's with the hair, the make up, the attitude, the songs, all the rest were just pretenders. And what a scene it created. Loved every minute of it.. Controversial then and because of who they are still controversial now.

Don't know about you guys but it all ended for me after the Dr Feelgood album.. so god knows how we keep harping on about em..

Probably just a little later for me. Around the time of the Greatest hits album with 'Anarchy...' on it! John Corobie album was good but a downward spiral from there really.

.. I thought there version of anarchy was pants, worse even, i grimace when-ever i come across it, its embarrassing .. Vince absolutely killed it ! Saying this the Crue ended for me when Vince got the boot/left or what-ever he did, like Kiss with Peter and Ace out the group i instantly moved on to other Pastures new in music, when 4 guys get together to take on the world with there own take on R 'N' R the only reason for someone leaving or getting the boot is about money or women, and when those original four guys aren't big enuff to put there grievance's behind them and move on together .. then thats it for me, they have SOLD OUT .. and bands that have sold out can kiss my ass, i ain't gonna be parting with my hard earned for nuffin' of their's .. I'm loyal like that ;0 )

I only said Anarchy cuz it was the only one that stood out in my memory from that album1 Think Primal Scream was another one!

After reading back through these posts I have to admit I've just finished reading "The Heroin Diaries"......................someone bought it as a Christmas present for me, I enjoyed the book and applaud Nikki for bearing his soul in this way, also a percentage of the profits are going towards drug related charities. The book touched me on many levels and even made me take a look at my past and gave me strength for the future..................give it a go guys........................Nice one Mr sixx you made me eat humble pie
